On the Cabriolet's last Sunday in March, Park City Mountain and the Canyons Village Management Association served donuts at the top terminal from 8 to 10 a.m. They also ran a "Cash Cab Giveaway" with gift cards for Park City Mountain retail shops. The lift ran its normal 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. day one last time. Construction started the next day. According to the Park Record, lift access between the Lower Village and the Canyons Village Forum would be unavailable while the work went on.
That gap has lasted all summer and into October. It also explains the season ahead. Canyons Village opens twice this winter. The lifts are scheduled first, on Nov. 20. The village's new front door, a finished garage connected to a new gondola, is expected in early December. Getting from the car to the snow works differently in each of those windows. Until then, the village's social life has moved uphill to Pendry Park City.
The Cabriolet's replacement is the Canyons Village Skyway, a free gondola with enclosed 10-person cabins and floor-to-ceiling windows. It runs from the new Canyons Village Parking Structure to the Forum and the base area around it. It also has a mid-station, which the resort's 2026/27 press kit says "will improve access throughout the village."
The garage is the other half of the project. Its first two levels opened for the 2025-26 season. TCFC, the village's master developer, resumed work on the last three levels in March. Once the garage is complete, it brings together surface parking from across the village. The Skyway and the garage were designed as one arrival system, so the Skyway does its full job only once the garage is open.
Much of the village's summer lineup has shut down for now. The resort's Summer 2026 operating schedule lists Murdock's Cafe & Pizzeria, The Farm and First Tracks Cafe as "Closed for the season." Canyon Mountain Sports, The North Face and Showcase are marked closed as of Sept. 8.
Pendry Park City still keeps a full posted schedule. In October it has the busiest calendar in the village, and it runs most nights of the week:
Pendry isn't the only option. At Westgate Park City Resort, Edge Steakhouse lists dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and is closed Sunday and Monday. For now, though, the evenings with the most going on are at the Pendry end of the village, the area the Skyway is being built to reach.
Park City Mountain's target opening day is Friday, Nov. 20, 2026, depending on weather and snow. In August, KPCW reported that the resort hopes to start lifts that day, "including the new Canyons Village Skyway." The station also reported the garage is expected in early December, "just maybe not by opening day." The sources reviewed for this post include no later update confirming the Skyway's first day of service. Nov. 20 is the resort's stated plan for the Skyway, not a confirmed date.
So the season starts with a temporary arrangement and then switches over. The resort's parking page sets out both phases:
| Before the garage opens | After the garage opens, early December | |
|---|---|---|
| Main parking | Surface Lots 2, 3 and 4 | Canyons Village Parking Structure |
| Cost | Free | $29 a day, free after 12 p.m. |
| Carpools | Not specified | Free areas for four or more people, if space allows |
| Getting to the upper village | Shuttle or walking routes | Skyway from the garage to the Forum |
| What changes | Lots 2, 3 and 4 close when the garage opens | Free first-come surface lot next to the garage stays |
The resort says the temporary lots will be marked and staffed with attendants. For regular skiers, the season pass is the bigger decision. Season parking passes for the Canyons Village garage and the Mountain Village garage cost $825, went on sale Sept. 1, and require reservations. Mountain Village parking works the same as last season, with paid reservations at all surface lots and free parking for carpools.
The free-after-noon rule is the detail most likely to shape a local's ski day once the garage opens. Under the resort's posted terms, an afternoon at Canyons costs nothing to park. A full day from first chair costs $29 unless the car carries four or more people.
High Valley Transit runs routes that skip both phases. Its 101 Spiro route stops at Ecker Hill Park & Ride and the Canyons Village Transit Hub every 20 minutes, daily. Posted service runs from 5:43 a.m. to 12:17 a.m. toward Jeremy Ranch and from 5:27 a.m. to 11:58 p.m. toward Old Town. The resort's page also points riders from Ecker Hill to the 10X. HVT's own park-and-ride page lists only the 101 as Ecker Hill's connecting route. The 10X is an express between Kimball Junction and Old Town. It stops at the Canyons Village Transit Hub every 20 minutes until 8 p.m. The resort describes both High Valley Transit and Park City Transit as fare-free.
HVT had not posted a winter 2026-27 schedule or start date on the pages reviewed here. The times above are what is posted now.
From mid-October on, the dates fall into a clear order:
One more change is due this winter without a date yet. Build-A-Bear Workshop is coming to Canyons Village "this winter," according to the resort's press kit. It joins a village whose arrival route from below will look different in December than it did in March. If the resort's schedule holds, the Tree Lighting will be the first village gathering of the season with lifts already running, and the Torchlight Parade the first after the garage has opened.
If you own in Canyons Village, the move from surface lots to the garage and Skyway may change how your guests, renters and family reach the slopes this season. I'm glad to talk through what the new arrival setup means for your building and your plans. Sarah Elder works with Canyons Village owners all year, and the change-over weeks are a good time to talk.
